I did something yesterday, hoping to make someone’s day. I did. :0) Yay!
I dropped off some items to be cleaned early last week. I picked them up Saturday afternoon and didn’t realize until late Saturday night that my favorite shorts (that needed a little mending) weren’t with the other items. I returned early Monday morning, hoping they’d have them ready for me. When I entered the shop I heard the woman, standing behind a partition, working, groan.
“That kind of Monday already, huh?”, I asked.
“Ya”, she replied, “especially at 6:15 this morning when they called to tell me I’d be short handed today”, as she came to the counter to help me.
“Wow. That’s a bummer.” I said.
I explained about my shorts and she quickly found them. They had been overlooked and weren’t fixed yet. She apologized and I said no problem but asked if they could be sewn by Wed. Surprised that I wasn’t upset, she assured me they’d be finished that day and I could pick them up between 4 and 5. I thanked her and went on my way.
Later in the day, while shopping, I thought how fun it would be to put together a little something for this woman. I picked a small bag with flowers on it and filled it with some chocolate (of course), mints, and a couple of children’s party favors, one being a tiny hand clapper. I knew she’d be surprised and I couldn’t wait to give it to her.
“I have something for you.” I said, as her coworker finished my shorts.
“What?”, she replied, confused.
I handed her the bag and told her that I hoped the rest of her week goes better than today had gone and that the little hand clapper was an extra set of hands for whenever she’s short handed. Her face softened into an amazed, grateful smile, her eyes moist as she laughed.
Walking towards me she said, “I’m all sweaty but come here. I want to give you a hug. Thank you. This is so sweet. You cheered me up so much. “
“Well, that was my intention.”, I told her.
“It worked.”, she said, smiling, picking up the little hands again, chuckling.
My shorts were finished and I left, grinning, so happy I had followed the prompting to do something nice for her. There is no better feeling in this world than doing kind deeds, giving love and helping others. I highly recommend it. ;0)
